Our Team

Dr. Nelson Juarez, not only practices family eye care in Texas City, but also makes his home in the community. A native of Galveston, Dr. Juarez graduated from Galveston Ball High School. He studied at the University of Houston where he earned a degree in biology in 1999 and went on to graduate from the University of Houston College of Optometry with a Doctor of Optometry degree in 2003.

Dr. Mercy F. Garcia was born and raised in Fort Myers, FL. She graduated cum laude from the University of Florida in 2012 with a bachelor of science in psychology. After graduation, she moved to Texas where she earned a Doctorate in Optometry from the University of Houston, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2016. Dr. Garcia completed externship training at the Raymond G Murphy Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Albuquerque, NM.

Dr. Noah Zavala was born and raised in Texas City and is exhilarated to be back to serve his community. A passionate clinician, Dr. Zavala is dedicated to providing high-quality patient care. Dr. Noah Zavala is a board-certified Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma specialist. He is also a member of the American Optometric Association and the Texas Optometric Association.

Reyna has been promoted to Office Manager at TSO Texas City. She has worked her way up from optician, receptionist and on occasion Dr. Juarez’s assistant. She has been with TSO Texas City since 2008. 

Mikessis is Dr. Juarez’s optometric technician and optician. She has been with TSO Texas City since 2009. Having lived in Texas City most of her life, Mikessis enjoys spending time with her husband Morris Jr. and her 2 children Aniya and Morris III. 

Laurie joined TSO Texas City in 1987. She does a little of everything, from being an optician, receptionist, doctors’ assistant, to coding and billing. She likes to help out our patients understand their insurance coverage and co-pays. 

Brianna has been with TSO Texas City since 2020 and you will find her at various roles in the office, but her primary role is optician. She enjoys working with patient allowing them to express themselves through fashion. 

Jerusalem has been with TSO Texas City since 2020. Jerusalen is our lab technician, she puts the finishing touch on glasses by precisely cutting the lens and professionally mounting them on our frames.
